The AAA are excited to announce a new line-up of prizes for the 2016 Visionary Architecture Awards. This year the category winners will receive:
Open – Conceptual
$1500 cash prize and 2016 trophy
Open – Work in Progress
$1500 cash prize and 2016 trophy
Student – Postgraduate
$500 cash prize, 2016 trophy, and one week internship at a leading Auckland firm
Student – Undergraduate
$500 prize in vouchers, 2016 trophy, and one week internship at a leading Auckland firm
For the first time, the AAA are excited to announce the support of two leading Auckland architecture firms in the student category prizes
The winners of the Post-Graduate and Undergraduate categories will each receive a week-long internship, at Pattersons and Strachan Group Architects respectively. In addition to the main prize this is hoped to provide the winning students a valuable glimpse into the workings of a notable local firm, at the start of their careers.
To celebrate the lineage of the awards, the design of the 2016 trophies follows that of the original by New Zealand sculptor Marte Szirmay, on the 40th anniversary of her design for the 1976 trophy. Each trophy will be one of a limited run of half-scale cast bronze reproductions of this historic example of New Zealand sculpture.
