2014 Judges
Patrick Clifford
Patrick Clifford is a founder and director of Architectus. The work of Architectus aims for a “clarity of intent and resolution, careful reading of context and ability to advance a broad cultural agenda.” Over recent years the practice has become increasingly involved in large scale urban projects and works within the public realm including the redevelopment of the Wynyard Quarter.
Patrick’s talents have been recognised through numerous awards, most recently the New Zealand Institute of Architects 2014 Gold Medal for career achievement. He has maintained an association with both schools of architecture in Auckland as a critic and tutor, including a two year Adjunct Professorship at Unitec.
Patrick Clifford is our lead judge of the AAA Visionary Architecture Awards for 2014.
Justine Harvey
Justine Harvey is editor of Architecture NZ . Justine has over 17 years of experience in journalism as a freelance journalist specialising in the arts and culture for international publications. She has be involved in the management and promotion of international events and exhibitions including the Venice Biennale 2008 and 2010. Her past roles include leading corporate press and communications teams at Arup and Richard Rogers Partnership (now Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners).
Julie Stout
Julie Stout is a founding director of Mitchell & Stout Architects. Prior to her current position she worked for both Cook Hitchcock Sargisson and Manning Mitchell. She joined David Mitchell in 1990, with the pair working and travelling extensively before returning to NZ. Julie is currently Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architecture at Unitec and was a member of the creative team behind the New Zealand Exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2014.
